Obituary	HOWARD LESLIE DAVIS SR. DEXTER - Howard Leslie Davis Sr., 84, died November 17, 1996 at his home in Dexter after a brief illness. He was born July 8, 1912 in Dexter son of Leslie W. and Winnie (Russell) Davis. He graduated from NH Fay High School Class of 1931. On September 15, 1940 he married the former Avis N. Titcomb, who predeceased him in 1989. He served in a special war time guard force at Fay Scott during World War II. In 1955 he and his wife founded the Titcomb-Davis clothing store which they operated until their retirement in 1975. He was a member of the New York Securities Exchange and was a real estate broker for many years. He was very active in local affairs and was a member of the Board of Assessors for the Town of Dexter and was a member of the Board of Appeals. He was a Deputy Sheriff in Penobscot County and an honorary Deputy Sheriff in Somerset County. He was a member of the Dexter Historical Society, a 50-year member of the Penobscot Masonic Lodge #39, the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor, and was a long-time member of the IOOF and the OES. He was a lifetime member of the Dexter United Methodist Church. He was an avid bee keeper and his house was often filled with the neighborhood kids who affectionately new him by Grampa. For many years he served as a notary public, marrying many couples in Dexter. He is survived by two sons and their wives Howard L. and Claudia (Gustin) Davis Jr. of Dexter and Paul T. and Patricia (Andrews) Davis of Sangerville; six grandchildren Heidi, Skip, Stewart, Todd, Alan and Kevin and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services were held November 19 at Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 238 Main Street, Dexter with burial in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
