Obituary	MIRIAM "MIM" GILBERT FARMINGTON and DEXTER - Miriam "Mim" E. Gilbert, age 73, of Farmington, died March 12, 1994 following a long illness. She had been a resident at the Edgewood Manor Nursing Home in Farmington for a little over one year. She was born March 1, 1921, in Dexter, the daughter of Elwood and Doris (Shepherd) Stevens. She received her education at Farmington Normal School and later taught school in the New Sharon schools. She left teaching and was employed at Forster Manufacturing Co. in Strong for a few years. For several years she was employed at G.H. Bass Shoe Company. In 1945, she married Milton Bean of Strong. He died in 1961. She later married Richard Gilbert. He died in 1975. Mrs. Gilbert dedicated much of her life to helping others. For several years she did housekeeping and caregiving in the home to the infirmed. Mrs. Gilbert was one of the founders of the Farmington Emblem Club #460 and remained active with the club until her ill health. She was also a former member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Strong. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and spending time in the outdoors. Shopping was her favorite activity. She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth "Betty" Neeley of Farmington; two sons, Stephen Bean of Auburn and Allan Bean of Daytona Beach, Florida; three grandchildren, Tera Lane, Nikki Eustis and Teresa Bean. She was predeceased by a grandson, Thomas Bean. Funeral services were held March 14 at the Wiles Funeral Home, 5 Hill St., Farmington, with Rev. John Tolman officiating. Family and friends called March 13 at the funeral home where members of the Farmington Emblem Club #460 met. Those who desire may give gifts in "Mim's" memory to the Farmington Emblem Club #460. P.O.
