Obituary	MISS GRACE "MARION" ROLLINS GARLAND - Marion Rollins, 93, Garland's oldest citizen and holder of the Boston Post Gold-Headed Cane, died on February 19, 1991 at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital after a period of failing health. She was born January 1, 1898 in Garland, the oldest child of Ernest R. and Alice (Atkins) Rollins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two infant siblings and her younger brother, Fred E. Rollins, in 1982. She graduated from Garland High School in 1916, Farmington Normal School in 1918, and received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Maine in 1957. She taught in Dexter for five years, in Dover-Foxcroft for nearly 40 years and in Corinna for five years. She was a member of the former Congregational Church in Garland, a member of the Retired Teacher's Association, the South Sangerville Extension Group, and attended the Garland Community Church, teaching Sunday school for several years and holding the office of Sunday school treasurer. Known in the community as "Aunt Marion", she had a special love for children. Having been an avid reader, she was known for lending books out of her personal library. She has compiled several scrapbooks of Garland news clippings, hoping to someday update the History of Garland. She lived all her 93 years in the farmhouse in Garland where she was born. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Charlotte Rollins of Garland; one nephew, Ralph, his wife, Jean and their son, Ernest, the three of whom were living with her prior to her death; nieces, Carol Rollins of Carmel, Sandra Thomas of Garland and Shirley "Jeanne" Gould of Wilton; four grandnephews, four grandnieces, three great-grandnephews and one great grandniece; two cousins, Marjorie Wilder of Norridgewock and Virginia Haley of Annandale, Va. Friends called on February 21 at Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 238 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services were held the following day at the Garland Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Young officiating.
