Obituary	MARGARET FRANCES GOODWIN DEXTER - Margaret Frances Goodwin, 88, passed away Sunday August 5, 2001 in Dexter with her family at her side. Born October 13, 1912 in Portland, she was the only child of Alfred J. and Lillie Louise (Sumner) Cobb. When she was a child her family moved to Salem Mass. Where she graduated from Salem High School in 1929. Margaret went on to Dean Junior College before training and then working at Boston Floating Hospital, as an R. N. in 1943, she married Rivingston S. Goodwin and together they raised a daughter Gloria Jean and a son, Richard Danvers, Mass. Margaret worked for many years as a private duty nurse for extremely ill patients before the creation of intensive care units. Over the last 15 years of her career, prior to her retirement in 1975, she was a charge nurse in the nursery at Hunt Memorial Hospital in Danvers where one of her happiest memories was caring for her twin granddaughters from the minute they were born. She had a lifelong passion for books, movies, and being at the ocean. In her last years, living in Dexter, with her son and daughter in law, she enjoyed sitting on the porch watching "her" chipmunks, squirrels and birds. But most of all Margaret had a love of people, making friends easily. Throughout her illness she showed a sense of humor, grace, and courage and left behind an example of how a life should be lived. She was predeceased by her husband in 1971 and by her daughter Gloria Priante in 1987. She is survived by her son Rick and his wife Sharron of Dexter, by her granddaughters Amy Louise Walkowicz of Methuen, Mass., Beth Anna Rizzo of Woburn, Mass., and her great granddaughter Samantha and great grandsons Nicholas and Christopher, as well as by her beloved cat Callie.
