PAUL E. CLUKEY DEXTER - Paul E. Clukey, 85, died February 17, 2001 at his home in Dexter, surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 30, 1915 at Dexter the only child of Delphis J. and G. Marion (Dyer) Clukey. He graduated From N.H. Fay High School in 1933. Paul once managed the A & P store in Dexter, worked a small dairy farm in Garland with his family, and later worked as a millwright at paper mills in the northeast. He was a member of the Carpenters and Millwrights Union Local #1996. During his retirement, Paul enjoyed assisting friends with jobs and Projects around their homes. He also drove vehicles for the local Ford ealership. He enjoyed the many gifts of Lake Wassookeag including snowmobiling, ice fishing, and boating with his wife Helen, family and friends on their pontoon boat. He also enjoyed going to the Dexter Club, cribbage parties and traveling around the country with Helen. One of Paul's most cherished accomplishments was helping to build his son Paul's home in Garland. He is Survived by a daughter, Susan (Clukey) Haggerty of Winterport; a daughter in law, Merrill (Warren) Clukey of Garland; 2 step-daughters, Diane Herring of Hermon, and Susan (Herring) Bogle of Palmyra; a step-son, Michael Herring of Las Vegas, NV; 10 grandchildren, Dennis and Carlene Haggerty of Augusta, Patrick and Pam Haggerty of Durham, Michael and Danielle Haggerty of Old Town, Sarah Haggerty of Portland, Elizabeth Haggerty of Somerville, MA, Wendy (Clukey) and Leo Bonesteel of Poestenkill, NY, Brent and Diana Clukey of Austin, TX, Kimberly Bogle of Richmond, VA, Stephanie (Herring) Waite of Boise, ID, and Shawn Herring of Boise, ID; 8 great Grandchildren. Paul was predeceased by his wife Helen in 2000, and a son, Paul E. Clukey in 1993. Paul will also be remembered by special friends, Sally Thompson, Bob and Jane Hoppe, Bob and Bev Tillson, Fred and Geneva LaFountain, and George And Melba Warren. Friends called Friday at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter, where services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, February 24th. Spring interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
