Obituary	CLELAND D. COCHRANE DEXTER, Cleland D. Cochrane, Jr. 72, died Nov. 23, 1999 at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1927 in Englewood, New Jersey, son of Cleland and Claire (Chandler) Cochrane Sr. He served in the US Navy and later attended the University of Maine receiving a degree in Agriculture in 1950. He retired after working 33 years from H.P Hood & Sons in Newport. Cleland was a Past Master of Penobscot Masonic Lodge #39 in Dexter, Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor, Anah Temple Horse Patrol, Knights Templar of Skowhegan, Tri-County Shrine Club, Wassookeag Chapter #44 Order of the Eastern Star, Poulliot-Seavey American Legion Post #53 in Dexter, the Maine Appaloosa Horse Club and was an avid member of the Friends of Maine Hockey Club. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene (Pitkin) Cochrane of Dexter; three children, Terry A. Locke and her husband Bruce of Kennebunk, Cleland "Butch" Cochrane III and his wife Debbie of Bath, PA and Karen I. Collins and her husband Wes of Dover, NH; five granddaughters, Kristie and Kelli Locke, Jill and Gabrielle Cochrane and Jessica Currier, a brother in law Francis C. Pitkin of Dexter; two sisters, Mrs. Jean Skib of Ocean City, MD and Mrs. Branda Orne of Beavercreek, OH; several nieces and nephews. Friends called Wednesday, November 24 at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 61 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services were held Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Lois Merrifield officiating. Burial will be held at the Eaton Cemetery in Marshfield, VT at a later date.
