It was understood that he was gaining and he was expected home on a furlough at the time that the word came that he had passed away. He was born in Sangerville, September 1, 1910, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William J. Clark, whose residence in Dexter was at 10 Center street. The family moved to Dexter when he was a boy and he attended the local schools, graduating from N. H. Fay high school in 1929. On August 10, 1943 he was married to Miss Elsie Beaupre of this town. He attended St. Anne's Catholic church and was a member of Cardinal Mercier Council, Knights of Columbia. Before entering the army on March 23, 1942 he was employed at the Moosehead Woolen Mill in Corinna. Cpl. Clark's entire military career of three years and five months was spent at Fort Knox where he was for a time an instructor and later was engaged in clerical work. Surviving are his wife; four sisters, Miss Virginia Clark, R. N., and Miss Margaret Clark, R. N. of Bangor, Mrs. Cleora Goode and Miss Mary Clark of Guilford and two brothers, Pfc. James H. The floral tributes were many and beautiful. Funeral services were held at St. Anne's Catholic church, Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, with Lt. Col. Leonard LeClair, army chaplain and former assistant pastor at St. Anne's as celebrant at a solemn high mass. Rev. Fr. Harris of Greenville officiated as deacon and Rev. C. J. Places of business were closed during the hour of the funeral as a mark of esteem. Burial was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery where committal services were conducted by Lt. Col. LeClair, after which three volleys were fired by a firing squad from Dow Field, Bangor. Taps were then sounded by Rev. Gilman Lane at the grave with an echo in the distance by Lawrence Ronco.
