Obituary	BETTY JANE HOLSAPPLE DEXTER - Betty Jane Holsapple, 73, died peacefully Thursday, May 4, 2000 at her Dexter home. She was born June 5, 1926 at Springfield, Massachusetts the daughter of John and Ruth (Skelton) Wiley. On August 30, 1947, she married Donald Holsapple, and in 1949 they moved to Dexter, where they raised their four sons: Bruce of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gary of Lincolnville Center, Kevin of Bangor, and Eric of Loveland, Colorado. In addition to her husband, Betty is also survived by her brothers, Donald and John Wiley, and her sister Ruth Porro, all of Springfield, MA; and her uncle, Gurney Skelton of Treasure Island, Florida. Besides her work as a wife, mother and Grandmother, Betty worked side by side with Don to develop and operate Camp Dexter for Boys, which later became Camp Dexter Family Campground. She was a member of many local organizations, including the Dexter United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Dexter Historical Society, the Sunshine Club, the Maine Audubon Society, and several local Bridge groups. An avid nature lover and bird watcher, she was a member of several birding clubs, both here and in North Carolina, where she and Don spent many winters. She was also keenly interested in genealogy and local history, and worked as a research assistant for Frank Spizuoco's recent publication Our Neighborly Neighbors. Betty's chief interest and greatest joy was her family, which grew to include nine grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Megan, Nathan, Matthew, Benjamin, Ryan, Kaitlyn, and Kohlton, and one great grandchild, Dimitri. She will be deeply missed by a wide circle of family and friends, in Dexter and beyond. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Dexter United Methodist Church with the Reverend Lois Merrifield officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dexter Historical Society, P.O.
