Obituary
LEO E. GORDON DEXTER & LAGRANGE - Leo E. Gordon, 86, died November 21, 1997 at a Dexter Health Care Facility. He was born June 21, 1911 in Dexter, son of Leo and Edith (Jaquith) Gordon. He graduated from Dexter High School Class of 1929, from Bentley College in Boston Class of 1932 and then received his C.P.A. After graduation, he resided in Boston for 25 years where he was a partner in the accounting firm of Herbert F. French. During WWII, he worked with the Boston Civil Defense. He and his wife moved back to Maine where they owned and operated Gordon's Greenhouse for 35 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order. He enjoyed painting and for many years painted landscapes around Maine and Nova Scotia. He is survived by 2 daughters, Joanne Johansen of Rockville, MD and Nancy Halstead of Boise, Idaho; 4 brothers Fred Gordon of S. Portland, Donald Gordon of Dexter, Frank Gordon of Orono and David Gordon of Garland; 2 sisters Dorothy Lambert of Dover-Foxcroft and Marjorie Welch of Port Deposit, MD; 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Madeline (Dorr) Gordon in 1982 and 3 brothers. Alfred, Earl and John. Visiting hours were held at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home in Dexter where public Masonic services were conducted by the Penobscot Masonic Lodge of Dexter. Funeral Services were held at the funeral home, with Rev. Harold Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Dover-Foxcroft Fire Department.
