CHESTER L. BAILEY DEXTER - Chester L. Bailey, 69, died May 8, 1996, at Maine Veterans Home in Bangor. He was born June 4, 1926, in Harmony, the son of Lawrence and Ada (Brown) Bailey. He graduated from Harmony High School, Class of 1943 and then served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War II. After discharge from the Army, Chet joined his father at Bailey Motors Inc. in Dexter, selling Richfield products along with new cars and trucks through 1960. In later years, Chet and his son, David, ran the garage selling BP gas and used cars at the original location until the spring of 1991. Most recently Bailey Motors relocated and Chet sold used vehicles until his illness forced his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW and a long time member of the Dexter Fire Department from 1947 to 1980. He is survived by his wife, Alderia (Mountain) Bailey of Dexter, with whom he celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary at their home on Jan. 7. He is also survived by two sons and their wives, David and Norma Bailey, Stephen and Pamela Bailey, all of Dexter; three grandchildren, Chris Bailey of Bucksport, Mark and Kimberly Bailey of Dexter, a great-grandson, Ryan Bailey of Bucksport' three nephews, Mike and Thomas Brunk of Dexter and Hartson Webber of Conn. He was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Webber Brunk. At his request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, May 24, 1996 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with the Rev. John Dunn officiating.
