Obituary
Joseph C. Lancaster, 67, died at his home on the South Ridge, Dexter, November 23, 1946, after a long illness. He was born at Walden, N. Y., July 10, 1879, the son of Joseph and Beatta Martin Lancaster. His parents came to Dexter 60 years ago from N. Y. state when he was a small boy, purchased the farm on the South Ridge, and lived there until their deaths. Mr. Lancaster worked in the woolen mills for a time, but in his later years has devoted his time to farming, living on the old home farm for the past few years and caring for his father while he lived. He leaves his wife, Flossie Lancaster; one daughter, Mrs. Arline Page; three sons, Lewis, Vaugh, and Harold. A fourth son, Paul, died in infancy. He is olso survived by a sister Miss Maude Lancaster of Quincy, Mass., a brother, Vernard of Newport; six grandchildren, two aunts, and several nephews and cousins. The funeral services were held at the home, November 25th, at 2 o'clock with the Rev. F. L.Niles officiating. The many beautiful flowers expressed the high respect in which he was held. Interment was in Corinna Center cemetery.
