ROLAND W. PROVOST DEXTER - Roland W. Provost, 75, of 43 Prospect St., Dexter, died August 3, 1994, at the Veterans Affairs Center, Togus, after a long illness. He was born in Dexter, January 22, 1919, the son of Ovide and Olive (Poulin) Provost. Mr. Provost had been employed at Eastland Woolen Mills in Corinna for many years. He was a member of Poulliot/Seavey Post No. 53 American Legion of Dexter, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4298 of Dexter and a life member of the John F. Kennedy Chapter No. 6 Disabled American Veterans of Dexter. A veteran of World War II, he was a veteran of the Normandy Invasion and was wounded at St. Lo, sustaining lifelong injuries. Survivors include his wife, Mary (Fields) Provost of Dexter; a brother, Carroll Provost of So. Orleans, Mass.; two sisters, Matilda Provost and Emily P. Davis, both of West Hartford, Conn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Provost of So. Weymouth, Mass. Graveside services were conducted Friday, August 5, at the Rev. Leonard LeClair Memorial Chapel in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Arrangements by Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta.
