Obituary	AVIS A. MacFARLAND DEXTER - Avis A. MacFarland, 87, died August 31, 1993 at Dover-Foxcroft. She was born Nov. 30, 1905 in Glenburn the daughter of Elbra and Annie (Pinkham) Arnold. She was a graduate of Higgins Classical Institute, Class of 1924, and was a Registered Nurse. She was an honorary member of the EMMC Nurses Alumni Association, and the EMMC Retired Nurses Association. She was a member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, the Dexter Golden Age Club, Meals for ME and was a RSVP volunteer. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Joan Thompson of Bangor; a daughter and son-in-law, Elinor and Roger Vigue of Dexter; one brother, Maurice Arnold of New Hampshire; two sisters, Ada Stevens of Skowhegan, and Gladys Barrick of Sacramento, CA, five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Almond and Robert Arnold, a sister, Evelyn Orcutt; a grandson, Dennis Vigue and a granddaughter, Cheryl Lynn Thompson. Friends called September 1, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 238 Main Street, Dexter where funeral services were held September 2. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations way be made to the Activity Fund, c/o Barbara Nickerson, Hilltop Manor, 30 Essex Street, Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426. Burial was in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
