JAMES A ELLIOT DEXTER - James Alexander Elliott, 67, a retired construction engineer, died March 26, 1993, at a Bangor hospital. Born in Newton, MA, Mr. Elliott was a graduate of Andover Academy in Andover, MA. He obtained a BS in engineering from Brown University in 1951 and a graduate degree in geology, also from Brown University in 1957. Mr. Elliott's work included a post as general engineer at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska. While in Alaska, he also founded the first Alaskan ski patrol at Burt's Hill in Fairbanks. He later was a field supervisor and resident engineer for Smith & Norrington Engineering Corp. of Boston and a construction engineer for ARAMCO in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II as a flight engineer. Mr. Elliott retired to Maine in 1991, where he became an avid fisherman and assistant code enforcement officer for the town of Dexter. He leaves a brother, Robert F. Elliott of Laguna Hills, CA, a sister, Dorothy DeAvila of Boston, MA; two nieces, Linda E. Bower of Newtown Square, PA, and Deborah E. Bayer of Wayland, MA; one nephew, James T. Elliott of Laguna Niguel, CA. A memorial service will be held in May. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery, West Roxbury. Arrangements by Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
