Obituary	EDWARD "WOODY" WOOD DEXTER - Edward "Woody" Wood, 64, died December 13, 1989, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital, after a long illness. He was born in Brockton, Mass., June 17, 1926, the son of George and Catherine (Spillaine) Wood. He was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1945. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a 20-year resident of Monson, Mass., before retiring to Dexter last year. He was employed for many years at United Aircraft at Windsor Locks, Conn., and was always proud of his contributions to the space program. He also worked for Dan Wesson Arms in Monson, Mass. as a designer and machinist. He served on the Monson, Mass. Highway Department and a was an active member of the community. He was a 10-year veteran of the Monson Fire Department, where he also served as an EMT on the ambulance crew. He was the founder and charter member of the Monson Bellman, where he served as deputy chief until moving to Maine. He was the founder and charter member of the Scantic Valley Engine Club in Hampden, Mass. He was a long-time member of the Springfield, Mass. Sportsmen Club where he served as pistol director for two years, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara Wood of Dexter; two sons, Michael Wood of Guilford, Vt., and Mark Wood of Dexter; two daughters, Judith Slattery of Hartland and Cynthiann Baxter of Warren, Mass.; three brothers, Robert and Gerald, both of Florida; and Kenneth of California; four grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours and funeral services were private, and were held under the direction of Brown's Funeral Home of Newport.
