Obituary
Mrs. Carolyn Bunker, 76, died Friday evening, October 11th, at the local hospital after being in ill health over a long period of time. Mrs. Bunker was born in Fairfield, Sepember 26, 1870. She married Edwin Bunker, and they came to Dexter in the early years of their married life. Two sons were born to them; Glenn, who died in early childhood and Vaughn, who met an accidental death at the age of 21. Her husband, Edwin, was coeditor with Holman Day of the old Dexter Gazette. She was the Dexter news writer for the Bangor Commercial for some time and following this she took over the sale of the Sunday papers. Of a kindly nature, she will be greatly missed by a host of Dexter friends who had been to calling on her for their Sunday editions. She was also employed in the office of the late F. H. Hayes. Mr. and Mrs. Bunker were among the original members of the Elkinstown club, and Mrs. Bunker enjoyed membership in the Book and Thimble club. The remaining members of this club took charge of the service because, as far as is known, there were no living relatives. Funeral services were held Monday morning in the First Universalist church with the pastor, the Rev. Gordon Chilson Reardon officiating. Honorary bearers were: Peter S. Plouff, B. L. Call, Harry Hale and Charles Wyman. Active bearers were: R. H. Stetson, C. F. Haines, Clarence Pierce, and Robert Cinq-Mars. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
