CARLETON A. BUCKNAM, SR. MILFORD, N.H. and DEXTER - Carleton A. Bucknam, Sr., 81, died October 4, 1989, following a lengthy illness at Crestwood Health Care Center in Milford, N.H. He was born in Dexter, May 4, 1908, son of the late Helen A. and Nathan C. Bucknam. Mr. Bucknam was educated in Dexter schools and Bowdoin College in Brunswick, where he was a member of Delta Epsilon Fraternity. He was associated with his father in the firm of Bucknam and Mountain for a number of years, and prior to his retirement was with the Amos Abbott Co. Mr. Bucknam was the first president and one of the founders of the Dexter Fish and Game Association. He held membership in several Masonic bodies and the American Legion. He was a past member of the Dexter Board of Selectmen, a past president of the Dexter Public Health Association, and a past member of the Board of Incorporators of Plummer Memorial Hospital. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include a son, Carelton A. Bucknam, Jr., of Vallejo, Calif.; a daughter, Jane W. Stoker of Reno, Nev.; three brothers, Nathan A. Bucknam of Suffern, N.Y., Robert F. Bucknam of Dubois, Wyo., and Gilbert Bucknam of Hollis, N.H.;. three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held on October 14 at 11:30 a.m. at the Bucknam family lot, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with Rev. David Rudolph officiating. Local arrangements by Crosby and Neal Funeral Home of Dexter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dexter Sunshine Club.
