Obituary	LESTER J. MEIER DEXTER - Lester J. Meier, 77, died July 16, 1989, at a VA medical center in Togus. He was born at Brooklyn, N.Y., August 22, 1911, the son of Julius and Lina (Gerber) Meier. He attended schools in New York and later attended Pace University in New York, graduating with a bachelor of business administration degree. He served in the Navy during World War II. He had worked for more than 45 years in the office of American Smelting and Refining Co. in New York. After retirement, he lived in Tucson, Arizona, for several years, before moving to Dexter. He was a member of Common-wealth-Greenpoint Lodge No. 403, Richmond Hill, N.Y.; the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in New York, and a member of their Masonic Brotherhood Fund Committee. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the Kings County Grand Jurors Association; a charter member of the Past Masters Association of the First Kings District in New York; a member of the Tri-County Shrine Club of Dexter; the Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor; the Eastern Star Lodge of Perfection, Palestine Council of Jerusalum; and the Bangor Chapter of Rose Croix, Valley of Bangor. He was a member of of the Consistory, Scottish Rite Valley of Portland; past commander of the American Legion Post No. 857 in New York; and a member of the American Legion Post No. 53 in Dexter. He was a life member of the John F. Kennedy Chapter of Disabled American Veterans; and a member of the Forty and Eight Local No. 454. He is survived by his wife of more than 50 years; Sophie (Suhoski) Meier of Dexter; two daughters, Marilyne Schottenfeld of Dexter and Ceceile (Langton) Baker of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Wilbur Meier of Coram, Long Island, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Robert Langton of New York, Aaron Schottenfeld and Noah Schottenfeld, both of Dexter; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y.
