Obituary	RAYMOND C. WHITNEY SR. DEXTER - Raymond C. Whitney Sr., 97, died March 7, 1993, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born June 25, 1895, in Cambridge, the son of Dudley and Lena (Genthner) Whitney. He graduated from Coburn Classical Institute in Waterville and then from Colby College. He served in the Army during World War I and later became the owner of D.B. Whitney and Sons General Store in Cambridge, which he operated for many years. In the 1960s he moved from Cambridge to Dexter and became affiliated with R.C. Whitney & Sons Oil Co. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Cambridge, Tri-County Shrine, Anah Temple Shrine in Bangor, the York Rite, the Scottish Rite, the American Legion in Dexter and the Dexter Club. He was the holder of the Boston Post Cane, having been the oldest male resident in Dexter. Surviving are his wife Bernice (Lord) Whitney; two sons, Raymond Whitney Jr. and Robert Whitney, all of Dexter; four grandchildren, Douglas Whitney of reenville, Carol Whitney of Augusta, Richard Whitney and Barbara McKusick, both of Dexter; six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. Private funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 1993, at Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter. Public graveside services will be held in the spring at Cambridge Memorial Cemetery, Cambridge.
