Obituary	ELLWOOD E. 'SAMMY' SAMPSON DEXTER - Ellwood E. "Sammy" Sampson, 73, died July 19, 1992, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born July 29, 1918, in Newport, the son of Ralph and Grace (Bowker) Sampson. He was an outstanding athlete at N.H. Fay High School and at Bridgton Academy. He was stationed in the South Pacific at Bora Bora while serving in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 63 in Dexter. He worked for Maine Central Railroad as a station agent in Newport, retiring in 1981 after 31 years of service. Surviving are his wife, Freda (Clukey) Sampson of Dexter; a stepdaughter, Eunice Gordon of Bangor; a stepson, Harold Mountain of Dover-Foxcroft; a brother, George Sampson of Newington, CT; two sisters, Barbara Clukey of Dexter, Shirley Palmer of East Longmeadow, MA; six grandchildren, Cynthia Hamilton of Portland, Leslie Neville of Hermon, Laurie Sproul of Bangor, Angus Mountain of Yarmouth, Tamara Moore of Dover- Foxcroft, James Mountain of Bangor, six great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, many special friends. Funeral services were held July 20 at the Ripley Methodist Church with the Rev. Alec Craig officiating. Burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley.
