Obituary
ALTHEA M. COOKSON DEXTER and SIDNEY - Althea M. Cookson, 60, died April 2, 1992, at Sidney after a long illness. She was born May 7, 1931, at Garland, the daughter of Alphonzo and Doris (McKenney) Cookson. She graduated from Farmington State Teachers College, Class of 1962, and had 30 years of teaching experience upon her retirement from the Dexter school system. Her life was dedicated to children and she spent part of each summer tutoring at no charge. She was an active member of the Dexter United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also participated in many Vacation Bible School programs throughout the state. She was a member of the Maine Teachers Association and the Retired Teachers Association. She moved to Sidney one year ago to live with her sister and brother-in-law. In addition to her mother of Dexter, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Roland (Sonya) Arno of Sidney and Mrs. James (Charlotte) Pearson of East Holden; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services were held April 6 at the Dexter United Methodist Church with the Rev. Krisann Byrne-Scheri officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery later this spring Donations may be made in her memory to the Dexter United Methodist Church or to the Dexter Primary School in care of Joseph Gallant.
