Obituary
THELMA A. KNOWLES DEXTER - Thelma A. Knowles, 74, died August 27, 1990 at a Bangor hospital after a short illness. She was a graduate of Sherman High School. She married Rex James in 1936, who predeceased her in 1985, and married Frank Knowles in September 1989. A homemaker and devoted wife and mother, she was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ripley, and was a previous member of the Orrington United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Ripley Chat and Sew Extension, the Ripley Ladies Aid and the Craft Club, to which she contributed greatly. She is survived by her husband, Frank, of Dexter; her children, Boyd of Wall Lake, Ind., Adrienne Strout of Dexter, Brenda Hogate of Cornville, Kevin of Bar Harbor, and Wendy Luce of East Holden; 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grand- children; two stepsons, Benjamin Knowles of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Raymond Knowles of Fairbourne, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Glenice Godinho of Tewksbury, Mass., and Amber Cherniske of Dexter; eight step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 30 at the Ripley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Helen Zigmund officiating. Burial was in Dean Hill Cemetery, Orrington. Friends called August 29 at Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 238 Main St., Dexter. Donations may be made in her memory to the Ripley United Methodist Church, c/o Ernest Seavey, RR #3, Dexter (04930).
