ELWOOD N. ANDERSON DEXTER - Elwood Nils Anderson, 71, died May 23, 1990 at his Main Street residence after a long illness. He was born May 5, 1919 at New Sweden, the son of Ernest and Ellen (Nelson) Anderson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was employed as a machinist at Fay & Scott Machine Shop until his retirement. He was a member of the Shirley B. Carter VFW Post of Dexter. He is survived by his wife, Arlene B. Anderson of Dexter; two sons, Ernest of Charleston, S.C., and Charles of Dexter; on stepson, Glen Bailey of Windsor; five step-daughters, Martha Crossman of Brewer, Donna Rackliff of Kittery, Jean MacLauchlan of Ledyard, Conn., Alice Roberts of Ludlow, Mass., and Vornie Colbath of Northboro, Mass.; one sister, Ethelyn Thomas of Agawam, Mass.; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara (Wilde) Anderson in 1986; and by a daughter, Ellen Ernst in 1988. At his request, there were no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held at Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Augusta, at the convenience of the family. Donations may be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society. P.O.
