Obituary
WESTON R. SHERBURNE DEXTER - Weston R. Sherburne, 71, died April 8, 1990 at Dexter nursing home. He was born October 12, 1918 in Dexter, the son of Joseph and Adella (Lyford) Sherburne. He attended Dexter schools, and on June 7, 1941, married Marguerite Robertson of St. Albans. He was a self-employed dairy farmer, lifelong resident of Dexter, and served in the Maine House of Representatives from 1978-1990. He was a member and past president of the Maine Farm Bureau; a member and director of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association; a member of the New England Milk Producer's Association; and a member and director of the Penobscot County Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a 50-year member of the St. Albans Grange, and a former 4-H Club leader. He served as a Dexter selectman, and was the first chairman of the Dexter Town Council. He also served on the Dexter Town Finance Committee, and was a member of the First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of Dexter; three daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Ron Watson of Cambridge, Frances and John Carroll of Westford, Mass., and Bonnie and Paul Hayward of Atlanta, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Amanda and Erlfred and Carol, all of Dexter and 14 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Harry and Myron. Friends called at Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 238 Main St., in Dexter on April 9, and funeral services were held on April 10 at the First Baptist Church of Dexter, with the Rev. Alan Brough, the Rev. John Dunn Jr., and Rev. Judson I. Stone officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter later this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Dexter Creative Playground, in care of Crosby and Neal Funeral Home.
