JAMES ALTON CLUKEY DEXTER - James Alton Clukey, 73, died March 10, 1991, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover- Foxcroft. He was born June 20, 1917, in Dexter, the son of Clifford and Elise (Mountain) Clukey. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was involved with the occupation of Japan after the war. He worked for several of the local woolen mills, and then worked for Snowflake Cannery until it burned in 1966. He later worked for Bud's Shop 'n Save until his retirement. He was a member of Poulliot Seavey American Legion Post in Dexter. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Diff) Clukey of Dexter; a son, Barry Clukey of Dexter; daughter, Sally Ann Hobbs of East Millinocket; two step- daughters, Judith Dube of Dexter and Bonnie Phinney of Sangerville, a brother Phillip Clukey of Hampden Highlands; two sisters, Joyce Webber of Dexter and Phyllis Belmont of Greenville; four grandchildren; give step-grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a step-great grandchild, nieces and nephews. Calling hours were March 11 at the Crosby and Neal Funeral Home Dexter. A mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 12 with the Rev. Marcel Robitaille officiating. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Dexter.
