MADELINE LIBBY WAKEFIELD DEXTER - Madeline Libby Wakefield, 77, died January 3, 1991, at her residence on South Hill Road in Dexter. She was born September 7, 1913, at Dexter, the daughter of Perley and Ethel (Orr) Libby. A 1930 graduate of N.H. Fay High School, she retired after working as a secretary and office manager for several of the local businesses. She was a member of the Women Christian Temperance Union; Martha Washington Rebekah Lodge No. 18; OES; a very active member of the First Baptist Church for 67 years; and was active in their nursing home ministry. She is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Guy and Nellie Wakefield of Parkman, Alla Libby of Augusta and Newell Fern of Dexter; nieces and nephews, Thomas and Louise Fern, Ronald and Rosena Fern, Bruce and Carol Fern, Marian and Clair Wood, Frances Fern, Ethel Fern, Jean and Ralph Rollins, Joyce Fern, Kent and Marlene Libby, and David Libby. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Wakefield, in 1964. Funeral arrangements were handled by Crosby and Neal Funeral Home, 238 Main St., Dexter. Funeral services were held Sunday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Judson Stone officiating. Spring burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
