ROLAND I. GILBERT ZEPHYRHILLS, FLA. and DEXTER-Roland I. Gilbert, 64, died unexpectedly May 21, 1989, in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was born in Dexter, October 11, 1924, the son of Philip and Marie (Nolet) Gilbert. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, participating in the European Theatre, and was a member of the American Legion. He was a charter member of the Dexter Fish and Game Association. He was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church of Dexter and was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. He worked for the Dexter school system and later for the Dexter Post Office until his retirement in 1984. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Artheline (Violette) Gilbert; two sons and their wives, Larry and Sandra Gilbert of Dexter, and Ronald and Jennifer Gilbert of Benton; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Alida Groleau of Dexter, Nathalie and Philip Tracy of Augusta, and Germaine and Raymond Poulin of Dexter; three grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Memorial Services and interment were held in the Maine Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Dexter Scholarship of their choice. Arrangements were made by Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter.
