LESTER R. PINGREE DEXTER - Lester R. Pingree, 84, died February 6, 1989, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born March 29, 1904, in Ripley, the son of Elmer and Elnora (Cooley) Pingree. He graduated from Ripley schools and had worked for most of his life as a farmer. He had also worked for the Town of Dexter for several years. He was a 65-year member of the Dexter Grange, an honorary member of Pomona Grange and a 7th Degree member of the National Grange. He was also a member of the Corinna Senior Citizens Club, the Dexter Golden Age Club and the First Baptist Church of Dexter. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth (Nutting) Pingree of Dexter; two sons, Jesse Pingree of Ripley, Keith Pingree of Dexter; one brother, Elwin Pingree of Dover-Foxcroft; three sisters, Angie Elvin of Readfield, Elizabeth Herick of Bangor and Vera Hall of Dresden; seven grandchildren, Paul of Florida, Mark of California, Kevin of Ripley, Jean Moreno of Dover-Foxcroft, K. David of Bangor, Roger of Sangerville and Robert of Dexter; several great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by one son, Robert Pingree, and one daughter Phyllis (Pingree) Street. Funeral Services were held at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, Dexter. Spring burial will be in Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the State Grange Memorial Fund, care of Ronald Dollof, Waldoboro 04572.
