LT. COL. WILFRID FERRIS GANEAU COLUMBIA, S.C. - Lt. Col. Wilfrid Ferris Ganeau, 74, of 4480 Jackson Blvd., Columbia, S.C., died Wednesday, May 13, 1987 at his home. He was born in Dexter, the son of the late Jerre and Clara (Como) Ganeau. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict and was retired from the U.S. Army at the time of his death. He was also retired from Southern Scales Refrigeration Co. He was on the board of directors for SEAFAB. He was active as secretary/treasurer on the board of directors at Fort Jackson Credit Union in Columbia. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Mildred D. (Hugg) Ganeau of Columbia, S.C.; three daughters, Mrs. C.F.G. (Mary)Day of Arlington, V.A., Miss Ellen C. Lehman of Roanoake, V.A., and Mrs. Elizabeth G. Shank of Columbia, S.C.; three stepsons, Mr. Neill M. Hugg, Mr. William H. Hugg and Mr. Bobby T. Hugg, all of Columbia, S.C.; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Morancie of Dexter and Mrs. H.R. Forbes of Zephyrhills, FL.; grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Friday, May 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Columbia, with Monsignor Louis F. Sterker officiating. Interment will be in the St. Peter's Cemetery, Columbia, S.C. Memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of one's choice in his name.
