Obituary	MRS. ELSIE [CURRIER] WHITNEY DEXTER - Elsie (Currier) Whitney, 92, died Dec. 21, 1982, at LaMesa, Calif. She was born Sept. 4, 1890, In Dexter, the daughter of Lewis E. and Sophia (Frye)Currier. She graduated from Dexter High School, class of 1910. She was later employed by George Huff in the Dexter Gazette office. She married Roy Whitney of Guilford in 1914. After a few years, Mrs. Whitney became employed at the Bangor Daily Commercial office and in 1943 by the Bangor Publishing Co. She retired in 1958. She had been a member of Tuscan Chapter, O.E.S. of Bangor for the past few years. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Brewer for many years. For the past 22 years, she had been living with her daughter and family in California except for summer visits to Maine. She is survived by a son, Lewis A. Whitney of Manchester; a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Dorothy) Bridge of Escondido, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Vina Rich of Newport; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 26, at the First Baptist Church, Dexter, with the Rev. Dan Leet officiating. Friends called at the Crosby Funeral Home, Sunday. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in the spring.
