PAUL GILES DEXTER - Paul Giles, 81, died at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., July 29, 1985, where he had resided with his sister. He was born Sept. 2, 1903 in Dexter. He served in the U.S. Army Band for 24 years and was later employed by Fay and Scott Machine Shop, Dexter. He become band director for the Fay and Scott Band in 1950, which later become the Paul Giles Band. He retired as its director in 1980 because of ill health. He had been guest conductor in Bangor, Bath and several out-of-state bands. He was a life member of the National Band Association. He was a member of Pullard-Seavey Post American Legion, the Plymouth Odd Fellow Lodge, the Dexter Grange, the Eastern Star, the Penobscot Chapter, the Masonic Lodge, Tri-County Shrine Club and Anah Temple Shrine. He is survived by one sister, Marion Fraher of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Crosby Funeral Home, 238 Main St., Dexter, where friends may visit 7-8 p.m. Thursday. Interment will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
