Mrs. Esther G. Nowell Mrs. Esther G. Nowell, 84, wife of Bert Nowell, died March 16 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gardner Farmer in Bucksport where she had been about a week and a half. She had been in poor health more than a year and until going to Bucksport had been at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Perley Pynes in Dexter. She was born in Nova Scotia June 21, 1861, the daughter of William and Sarah Pineo Green. About 55 years ago she was united in marriage with Mr. Nowell and resided in South Gardiner until coming to Dexter 36 years ago, where they conducted a boarding house on lower Main street for a number of years. They have since lived in Gardiner and Dexter. Mrs. Nowell was a member of the Methodist church of Gardiner. Funeral services were held at the Mitchell-Clark funeral home in Bucksport March 19, the Rev. Albert E. Luce, a former pastor of the Dexter Methodist church officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in the spring. Surviving are the husband; three daughters, Mrs. Alice Pynes of Dexter, Mrs. Edith Farmer of Bucksport, Mrs. Charles Boardman of Gardiner; two sons, Carleton Nowell of Boston and George Nowell of Winthrop, Mass., three sisters Mrs. Annie Russell, Augusta, Mrs. Waite Glass and Mrs. Bertha Emery of Randolph; a half sister, Mrs. Joseph Peacock of Augusta; also seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
