Obituary	EARL L. CROWELL DEXTER – Earl L. Crowell, 89, died Aug. 5, 1983, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born in Menominee, Mich., Dec. 14, 1893, son of George and Stella Palmer Crowell. He moved to Maine when he was five years old and attended schools in Garland, Corinna and Dexter. In 1921 he married the former Clara Sawtelle and farmed in Corinna for 45 years. After retiring in 1965, he moved to Dexter and served as tax assessor for several years. He was a 69-year member of the Dexter Grange, Master of the Subordinate and Pomona Granges and a Seventh Degree member. He was treasurer of the Dexter Grange Store Corporation at the time of his death. He was a local and national member of the American Association of Retired Persons. Earl and Clara Crowell were instrumental in founding the Golden Age Club. He is survived by his wife of Dexter, a son, Clyde of Corinna; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Black of Brunswick, Mrs. Wendell (Evelyn) Golden of El Paso, Texas, Mrs. Harry (Earlene) Black of Bath; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were hold Monday at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, with the Rev. Robert Sterling officiating. Interment will be in the Higgins Cemetery Corinna.
