Obituary
John S. Jackson John Jackson, 85, one of Dexter's oldest and most highly respected citizens, died at his home on Main street Wednesday morning at 3:15, following a long illness, during which time he has been tenderly cared for by his wife. He was born in Winthrop, Maine, December 1st, 1860, the son of Horace and Rebecca Sinclair Sewall Jackson. Sixty-two years ago he was united in marriage with Miss Nellie Wilcox and they have made their home in Dexter more than fifty years. For many years he was one of the town's leading painters and paper hangers and was well known for his high class precision work. He was a man who greatly enjoyed his home and he spent many busy hours caring for his house and grounds. Mr. Jackson leaves only his wife and one son, William S. Jackson of Boston, who arrived in Dexter Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. W. S. Jackson has been at the Jackson home several days to assist in the care of her husband's father. Funeral services will be conducted from the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Gilman Lane of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
