DEXTER BOY KILLED IN COASTING ACCIDENT John Evangelist Gilbert, 12 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Gilbert, Railroad avenue, and pupil in Grade 6A at the Spring Street school, died Tuesday evening from injuries received a short time before, when the sled on which he was sliding collided with a car driven by Horace A. The automobile was traveling up Railroad avenue and the accident occurred in front of the child's home, at the intersection of Railroad avenue and Liberty street, on which the boy, with several other children, was sliding. A building in the corner obscured the vision in each direction. John was rushed to the Plummer Memoral hospital by ambulance where he died soon after, from multiple head injuries. He also suffered broken bones and internal injuries. Officer Anson Dorr investigated and stated that no charges would be preferred against the driver. John E, Gilbert was born in Dexter January 4th, 1934, He has received his education in the Dexter public schools and two years at the Sacred Heart convent in Jackman. He leaves his parents; four sisters, Mrs. Harry Boyington, Mrs. Herbert Groleau, Mrs. Raymond Poulin and Miss Nathalie Gilbert; two brothers, Philip Lionel (Leo) Gilbert and Roland Gilbert, all of Dexter; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at St. Anne's Catholic church Friday morning at 9 o'clock.
