Obituary	VERNA D. MITCHELL WATERVILLE - Verna D. Mitchell, 47, of 3 Broadway, died Oct. 23 at a local hospital following a long illness. She was born in Dexter, July 11, 1932, daughter of Fred and Hazel (Whalen) Mitchell. She was a graduate of Farmington State Teachers College and obtained a master's degree from the University of Maine at Orono. For the last 12 years she had taught the third grade at Pleasant Street School, previous to which she had taught school in Guilford, Dexter and Bangor. Before moving to Waterville, she had been organist at the Dexter Free Baptist Church of which she was a member. She was a member of the Farmington Alumni Association and attended the Clinton Baptist Church. Besides her mother of Waterville, she is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Hibbard of Dover-Foxcroft and Mrs. Vivian Mason of Newport; several aunts, uncles, ieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were Oct. 26 at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Fairfield.
