GEORGE LABONTE DEXTER - George LaBonte, 91, died Sept. 4 at a Dexter hospital after a long illness. He was born in Quebec, Canada, Aug. 5, 1888, son of Jacob and Melina (Paradis) LaBonte. He moved to Rumford in 1923, where he worked for the Oxford Paper Company for 32 years. He moved to Dexter in 1967. He was a member of the Snowshoe Club in Rumford (Le Paresseux). He was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Dexter. He is survived by his wife, Marie Nolet Gilbert LaBonte of Dexter; five daughters, Mrs. Rita Moreau and Mrs. Monica Porello, both of Westbrook, Mrs. Florence Brooks of Coral Gables, Fla., Mrs. Magella Sauve of Florida, and Mrs. Frances Collins of Virgin, Utah; four sons, Joseph of Denver, Colo., Eugene and Sylvestor, both of Whittier, Calif., and Bernard of Hampton, N.H.; two brothers, Aime of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Wilfred of Augusta; one step-son, Roland Gilbert of Dexter; three step-daughters, Alida Groleau of Dexter, Nathalie Tracy of Augusta, and Mrs. Germaine Poulin of Hampden; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was said Sept. 6 at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Interment at St. John Cemetery in Rumford.
