Obituary	EVANGELINE SMITH DEXTER - Evangeline Smith 90, died Sept. 1 at a Dexter hospital following a long illness. She was born in Hampden, March 14, 1889, the daughter of Winfield and Addie (Haynes) Redman. She was married to Frederick Abbott of Dexter; upon his death she then married the late A. Howard Smith of Presque Isle. She graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1907 and graduated from Bates College in the Class of 1912. She taught romance languages at high schools in Dexter, Waterville, Massachusetts and Connecticut. She was a past president of the board of directors of Amos Abbott Co., was a member of the Sunshine Club of Dexter. She is survived by one son, George Abbott of Dexter; one step-son, Aubrey Smith of Presque Isle; one daughter, Imogen Tillson of Dexter, one step-daughter, Lura Bilderback of San Diego, Calif., seven grandchildren six step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Sept. 3 at the Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, with the Rev. Andrew Spohrer officiating. Interment was in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sunshine Club in Dexter.
