S/SGT. JOSEPH D. CONWAY WASHINGTON, D.C. - S/Sgt. Joseph Donald Conway died May 11 at Walter Reed Army Medical Cneter, Washingon, D.C., after a long period of failing health. He was born in Dexter, June 28, 1919, the son of Angelina (Pooler) and William Conway. He retired from the Air Force approximately 15 years ago after serving his country honorably for more than 22 years, which included service during World War II and Korea. He was stationed at Hickham Field when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He resided at the U.S. Soldier's and Airmen's Home in Washington where he was employed part time until his health failed him. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery on May 15 with full military honors and his sister, Marjorie Carder of Kittery, whom he visited often, was present to represent the family. Besides his sister, he is survived by another sister, Zelma Clark of Saco, and a brother, Francis "Bill" Conway of Dexter.
