Obituary	RAYMOND E. HAMMOND DEXTER - Raymond Hammond, 81, died Feb. 23 at a Pittsfield hospital. He was born March 11, 1897, in Presque Isle, son of William and Nellie (Cookson) Hammond. He worked for the Monson Slate Quarry and later for the Guilford Woolen Mill until his retirement in 1963. HE had been married to Helen Arnold Hammond for 47 years until her death in 1967. He had been a member of the Odd Fellows Club in Monson and of the Towne-Holmbom Post of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Grace Hammond of Dexter; two sons, Wilbur of Carmichael, Calif., and Everett of New Castle, Pa.; four daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Dexter of Dover-Foxcroft, Mrs. Robert (Audrey) Young of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. Frank (Florence) Hanscom of Jonesport and, Mrs. Linwood (Dorothy) Flanders of Guilford; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Feb. 26 at the Neal Funeral Home in Guilford with spring burial in the Hillside Cemetery in Monson.
