Obituary
JOHN J. CLARK DEXTER - John J. Clark, 89, died at a Brunswick convalescent center Nov. 29, 1983, after a long illness. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, May 29, l894. He moved to Dexter in 1916. He was a veteran of World War I, and was recipient of the Silver Star Medal. He was a member of American Legion Poulliot-Seavey Post No. 53, having served a time as post commander. He was married to Celeste (Mountain) Clark, who predeceased him in 1975. He was employed by the local woolen mills where he worked as overseer in the spinning room. Mr. Clark was caretaker of the late Senator Owen Brewster's residence for many years. He was a communicant of St. Anne's Catholic Church, until he moved to Silver Spring, Md. He returned to Brunswick in 1980. He is survived by one son, John Clark of Falls church, Va.; two daughters, Rita Novak of Silver Spring, Md., and Miss Edith Clark, formerly of Alexandria, Va., and now a resident of Topsham; eight grandchildren five greatgrandchildren. A funeral mass was celebrated Saturday at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Friends called at Crosby Funeral Home, Dexter, Friday. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
