Obituary
JACOB BEMIS CORINNA-Jacob E. Bemis, Sr., 80, died unexpectedly Jan. 28, at his residence. He was born April 24, 1896, in Garland, the son of William and Nellie (Ward) Bemis. He was a veteran of World War I, and past master of Twilight Grange Corinna and a member of the Dexter Grange, East Somerset Pomona State and National Granges. He was a member of the Marhta Washington Rebekah Lodge and Plymouth Lodge IOOF both of Dexter. He was a past patron of Corinna Chapter OES of Corinna and a 50 year member of Middlesex Lodge AF & AM Framingham, Mass. He was also a director of Corundel Snowmobile Club of Corinna. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Gray) Bemis of Corinna to whom he had been married for 55 years; three sons, Jacob Bemis, Jr. of Sangerville, Elmer of Benton; Stanley of Corinna; two daughters, Mrs. George (Evelyn) Pitcher of Etna, Mrs. Earl (Virginia) Dyer, Jr. of Benton; two brothers, John of Garland, George of St. Albans; one sister, Mrs. Mary Hartley of Dexter; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchfldren, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were February 1, at the Thompson Funeral Home, Corinna, with Rev. Robert E. Blake, Pastor of the Corinna United Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will be in the Morses Corner Cemetery, Corinna.
