ARTHUR W. EASTMAN NORRIDGEWOCK - Arthur M. Eastman, 95, Norridgewock's oldest resident, died recently at a Skowhegan hospital. He was born in Dexter, Feb. 2, 1881, son of Alvin A. and Agnes Rollins Eastman. He was educated in Dexter schools and trained as a machinist in the Fayscott machine Shop in Dexter. He was a self-taught naturalist and spent much time in the Maine woods as a guide and trapper. He was a pioneer in developing the Allagash trip starting from Greenville and ending at Fort Kent. He was also associated with several boys' camps. He was a member of Penobscot Lodge AF & AM, Dexter. He made his home with his sister, Mrs. Marjorie Wilder in Norridgewock, for many years. Other survivors are one stepsister, Mrs. Marshall (Grace) Phinney of Dexter; five nephews; one niece; five cousins. Funeral services were at the Nelson J. Smart Funeral Home, Norridgewock. Interment was at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. Contributions may be made in his memory to the Pine Tree Society for Crippled children, Bath, Maine.
