Mrs. Elsie Russell Mrs. Elsie Russell, 67, died Friday morning, at her home on Beech street, the day following her return from the Eastern Maine General hospital in Bangor, where she had been receiving treatment, and seemed to be gaining. She was born in Ripley, April 17, 1878, the daughter of John and Maria Keene Nutter. She was educated in the local schools and after her marriage on December 31, 1903 to Manville D. Russell has always resided in Dexter. Besides her husband she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Madeline Hart of Portland; a son, Pfc. Howard Russell, in the Philippines; a grandson, Russell Hart of Portland; a stepson, Harl Russell of Tuckahoe, N. Y., and a sister, Mrs. Grace Knowles of East Wilton. Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon, the Rev. Gordon C. Reardon officiating and burial was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. There were many beautiful flowers. Bearers were Jasper Higgins, Earl Crowell, Ralph Wakefield and Elwin Farnham. Among those from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Hart and son, Russell of Portland, Mr. and Mrs. Harl Russell of Tuckahoe, Mrs. Grace Knowles, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Knowles, of Wilton; Mr. and Mrs, Donald Knowles of Westbrook; Lynn McNaughton of Sangerville; Mr. and Mrs. Vance McNaughton of Winthrop; Allie Towle and Frank Oliver of Garland.
