Obituary
Mrs. Erma B. Grant Mrs. Erma Brockway Grant, 51, died Monday noon, at the Eastern Maine General hospital in Bangor where she has been a patient for several months. She was born in Sangerville November 15, 1893, but has lived the greater part of her lifetime in Dexter, where she attended the local schools and graduated from Dexter high school. She also attended and graduated from the Bryant-Stratton business college in Boston. For a number of years she was employed as bookkeeper at the George Park Woolen Mill until ill health forced her to retire. She was well known locally in musical circles and often took part in programs as soloist. She was an interested member of Martha Washington Rebekah lodge and a member of the First Universalist church. In September 1943 she was united in marriage to James H. Grant, who survives her. Funeral services were held this afternoon Thursday, at 2 o'clock at the Universalist church, with Rev. Walter R. Towle of Unity officiating. Interment was in the Brockway family lot at Mt. Pleasant cemetery. There were many beautiful floral tributes, tokens of the esteem with which she was held in the community. Rebekahs attended in a body and conducted a memorial service. Besides her husband she leaves a brother, Earl Brockway of Wakefield, Mass.; a nephew, Bruce Brockway, and an aunt, Mrs. Stella Starbird of Dover-Foxcroft.
