MRS. NELLE PENLEY Mrs. Nellie Penley, 74, a former resident of Dexter died last Sunday at a Gardiner nursing home following a long period of ill health. Born April 1, 1898 at Roxbury, Mass., she was the daughter of George and Jennie Libbey Bradford. She was womens editor of the Bangor Daily News for 29 years after leaving Dexter in 1935. While living in Dexter for many years she was employed by the News as reporter for Dexter and Dover-Foxcroft. Her late husband, Warren Penley was employed at the Amos Abbott Woolen Mill while in Dexter. She was a past president of the Dexter Woman's Literary Club and with her husband a member of the Boneka Club of the Universalist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Gretchen LaCroix of Augusta, and two granddaughters, both married and in Augusta. Memorial services were held on Wednesday at the Clark-Mitchell Funeral Home, Augusta following cremation.
