PAUL A. NELSON Paul A. Nelson, 76, of Dexter, died July 13 at a local hospital after a long illness. He was born, Sept. 14, 1898, in Ostersund Jemtland, Sweden. A veteran of World War I, he served with Company F of the 26th (Yankee) Division and was a holder of the Purple Heart. He was a charter member of the Oral A. Towne Post American Legion of Monson; a member of World War I Barracks of Milo. He was for many years a director of the Monson Band, the Fay-Scott Band of Dexter and the American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps of Guilford. He was employed for 20 years by the Monson Slate Co. and for 20 years by the Fay-Scott Co. Surviving are his widow Evelyn Sanborn Nelson of Dexter; a son Paul B. Nelson of Nashua, N.H.; a daughter Mrs. Grace Nace of Philadelphia; two brothers, Carl of Springfield, Mass., and Perry of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Sigrid Peterson of Sandusky, Ohio and Mrs. Anny Wells of Springfield, Mass., and three grandchildren. Funeral services were Tuesday at the Neal Funeral Home in Guilford. Burial was in Monson Cemetery.
