MISS ALDINE C. GILMAN Miss Aldine C . Gilman, 84, of Dexter, died at a local hospital May 23 after a long illness. She was born March 23, 1890, at Sugar Hill in Harmony, the daughter of Andrew and Flora Gilman. She attended the local schools, graduating from Dexter High School. In 1915 she graduated from Colby College, and was class correspondent for many years. She attended summer sessions at Oxford University in England. Miss Gilman taught schools in Parkman and in Camden, and was teacher of English at the high school in Malden, Mass., for 30 years from 1922 to 1952 She was faculty advisor of the school paper, and of the girls honor society. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Malden, and taught Sunday school, and was a member of the (Old and New) Woman's Club She was president of the College Club, and worked with Girl Scouts. Retiring in 1952, she returned to her home in Dexter where she became active in the First Baptist Church, the Mission Circle, the Plummer Memorial Hospital Associates, the Sunshine Club, the Woman's Literary Club, and the Dexter Historical Society. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Elia Yakemore of Simsbury, Conn., as well as one nephew, Andrew M. Yakemore, also of Simsbury; grand-nephews and grand-nieces. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Dunn officiating. Burial was in the Cambridge Cemetery.
