Obituary	MERTON STAFFORD On May 18, 1974 at the Nelson Smart Funeral Home in Skowhegan, funeral services were held for Merton Stafford, who died after a short illness. He was born in Hartland Aug. 9, 1897, the son of Alvah and Lucelia Osborne Stafford. He was a former resident of Ripley, and worked for the Ames Baldwin Whyoming Co., for some years, was road patrolmen in Cornville for a number of years, owned and operated a grocery store at Cass Corner for many years before he retired, where he had lived since 1940. He is survived by his wife, Vivian Bane Stafford, one sister Anna Sawyer of Dexter, one brother Kenneth Stafford of Ripley, a niece and a nephew. Interment was in West Ripley Cemetery.
