Obituary
FLOYD A. REDMAN Floyd A. Redman, 81, formerly of Carmel, died June 26 at the Andrews Nursing Home, South Paris, after a long period of failing health. He was born in Hampden Feb. 8 1891, the son of Dr. Samuel and Bertha (Varney) Redman. He graduated from Patten Academy in 1909 and from Bates College in 1914. He served in the U. S. Army in World War I and was married to the former Gertrude Parsons in East Machias in 1921. Mrs. Redman died Dec. 20, 1959. Mr. Redman taught at East Machias and was a school teacher at East Machias, Garland and Dexter. He then became principal at Brownville Academy. He later went to Bryant Pond and was principal at Woodstock High School for 18 years. He then came to Carmel, teaching for 10 years in Old Town before his retirement in 1956. He was a resident of Carmel for 22 years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Keane of Miami, Fla., two sons, Wayne of Englewood, Colo., and Samuel of Bryant Pond; two sisters, Mrs. Delma Small of Dexter and Mrs. Lora Taylor of Guilford; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the I. W. Andrews and Son Funeral Home, South Woodstock. Internment was to be in the Highland Cemetery, Carmel.
